How do I convert points to dollars?

The points calculator has two tabs. Points Value shows what a number of points is worth, redemption by redemption. Redemption Value takes a flight or hotel's cash price and works out the cents per point you got. Both show the arithmetic.

Each rewards program has its own page on the points calculator, with two tabs. Both work in .

Answers "How much are your points worth on average?" Use it before you redeem, to see what your points could be worth.

Points Value: what are my points worth?

  1. Pick the program

    Choose it under Loyalty Program.

  2. Enter your points

Type the amount in Number of Points.

  3. Read the redemption options

Under Redemption Options, each option shows what your points are worth on average if you use them that way. The best one is tagged BEST VALUE.

  4. Try a transfer partner

Where a redemption lists transfer partners, tap one to see your points moved to that program and valued at the partner's best redemption. Tap it again to go back to the average.

The value of each option is your points multiplied by that option's value per point. For a transfer partner, your points are first turned into partner points at the transfer ratio (rounded to whole points), then valued at the partner's best redemption.

Redemption Value: how good was my redemption?

  1. Enter the Total Cash Price

The full price of the flight or hotel stay if you paid entirely in cash, including taxes and fees.

  2. Fill in a scenario

Under Redemption Scenarios, enter the Cash Paid (taxes, fees or a co-pay on the booking; leave it blank if points cover everything) and the points you use. The points field is labelled with the program's name followed by "Used".

  3. Read the result

You get the cents per point, a value label from the program's guide, and the Full price, Cash paid, Points used and Points value.

  4. Compare options

Tap Add Scenario to try other mixes of cash and points for the same booking, up to 6.

The points value is the cash price minus the cash you pay. The cents per point is that value, in cents, divided by the points used. Cash Paid has to be less than the full cash price. Your entries are remembered in your browser for next time.
