Why does FinlyWealth use cookies and tracking links?

Rebates need a tracking link and a cookie so the merchant and FinlyWealth can tell your purchase came through us. Blocking them can stop a rebate from being recorded. You can change your cookie choices, and in Quebec most non-essential ones start off.

A cookie is a small file your browser stores so a website can recognize it later. FinlyWealth uses cookies, and links that carry a tracking identifier, so that we and our partner merchants can tell your application or purchase started on our site.

Why rebates need tracking

When you head to an offer from FinlyWealth, we log the visit and the merchant records it through the link. That is the only way your rebate can be credited to you. We also keep an affiliate and referral cookie for 30 days that credits rebates, referrals and affiliate partners.

The main cookies we set

  • Sign-in and session: keeps you signed in, and remembers a trusted device for two-step verification if you choose.
  • Affiliate and referral attribution: credits rebates, referrals and affiliate partners. 30 days.
  • Device ID and browser fingerprint: used to detect abuse such as duplicate accounts. The device ID lasts 1 year and the fingerprint hash 30 days.
  • Landing page, ad click IDs and campaign values: record the first page you visited and where you came from. 30 days.
  • Preferences and consent choice: remember your settings, such as calculator spending, and your answer to the cookie banner. The consent choice lasts 1 year.

The full list, and the analytics and advertising tools on our public pages, are in the Privacy Policy.

Your choices

If we can confidently locate you in Quebec from your IP address, you see a short banner, in French or English to match your browser, with equal Accept and Decline buttons. Until you accept, our analytics and advertising tags do not run. You can change your answer any time from Cookie choices in the footer of every page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Declining stops our analytics and advertising tags. The affiliate and referral cookie that credits rebates is listed as necessary, so it is not part of that choice.

It can be. Ad blockers, private browsing and coupon extensions often stop the merchant from recording a visit. Switching devices or reopening the bank's site directly can also break the link.
