Each line is one institution's best posted rate at that term — the 5 most competitive in this view.
Locking in for 5 years currently pays up to 0.70 points more than 1 year.
The single highest rate each institution posts within your current filter.
Projected value assumes a $10,000 deposit held to maturity. GICs that pay interest out monthly or annually are shown with simple interest; only compounding terms accrue on themselves.

CDIC (federal) — $100,000Rates come from each institution's own published rate page — never from a third-party aggregator. An automated job re-reads those same pages every night, compares what it finds against what we display, and updates any rate that has moved. Changes are logged with the date and the source URL.
Where an institution publishes different rates for different interest-payment frequencies, each is listed separately: a GIC that pays monthly almost always pays a lower rate than the same term compounded to maturity, and comparing across the two is not like for like.
Deposit protection is not uniform. CDIC covers eligible deposits to $100,000 per insured category per member institution, while most provincial credit-union schemes in Manitoba, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alberta guarantee deposits in full with no limit. Brands can also share a single CDIC member — deposits at EQ Bank and Equitable Bank count against one limit, as do Simplii and CIBC.
Rates change without notice and promotional offers can be withdrawn at any time. Always confirm the rate with the institution before investing.
