How much is the value of 30,000 WestJet Rewards points?

The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard earns you solid WestJet Rewards per dollar spent on WestJet flights or WestJet Vacations packages purchased using your card, plus a decent base rate on everyday purchases.

The catch? This contender comes with an annual fee and high annual income requirements.

The high annual cost and income requirements account for the card’s value.

On top of admirable WestJet Rewards point-potential, cardholders also receive a handful of coverage. Specifically, spenders can expect emergency medical insurance, trip interruption insurance, and flight and baggage delay insurance.

The card also includes some valuable perks, like an airport lounge Dragon Pass membership with complementary visits, a companion voucher, status lift opportunities, and free first checked bags.

Bottom line: if you’re constantly flying with WestJet, this card gets you the most WestJet Rewards and accompanying benefits directly.

If you don't qualify for the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard and you want to spend less on annual fees, the WestJet RBC Mastercard is a good alternative for direct WestJet Rewards.

Keep in mind, however, that this low-cost contender earns you fewer points per dollar spent on WestJet flights and WestJet Vacations packages, plus it comes with fewer perks and insurance add-ons.

Ultimately then, the WestJet RBC Mastercard is only worth considering if you fly frequently with WestJet, but have a low income.

We mentioned using points for travel to save on WestJet flights, WestJet Vacations, and Sunwing Vacations.

The following table tells you exactly where those savings apply:

Exclusive member savings also pop up from time to time. Keep an eye out for them by signing into your WestJet Rewards account, the first step of the travel redemption process. For example, you might find Member Exclusive fares for Economy, Premium or Business class flights.

While travel redemptions give you the best cent-per-point value, there are still a couple of other redemption categories to consider, like gift cards.

Sign in to your WestJet Rewards account and select one of many gift cards from the following categories:

• Entertainment
• Leisure
• Gas
• Retail
• Hotel & Travel
• Grocery
• Sports & Outdoor
• Electronics & Tech
• Food & Dining
• Fashion & Accessories
• Beauty, Health & Wellness
• Home & Garden

Within these categories you'll find brands like:

• Best Buy
• Amazon
• Sport Chek
• Tim Hortons
• American Eagle
• Apple
• Cineplex and more

Redemptions will vary by product and product value (whether the card is worth $25, $50, $100 and so on). Some brands are also considered WestJet Partners and may have exclusive pricing.

Generally though, a $25 gift card is worth 3,600 points, a $50 gift card is worth 7,200 points, and a $100 gift card is worth 14,000 points, giving you that average 0.69 cpp value.

You can also explore the WestJet Rewards eStore and pay for featured products using points.

The catalogue includes brands like Amazon, Apple, and Sephora.

After you've filled your cart, you can decide whether you'd like to pay for your purchase using points or a combination of both points and cash.

Note that redemptions will vary by product.
