Our Detailed Review
How You Earn Rewards with the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard
The rewards you’ll earn on this card depend on one major condition: whether or not you have an eligible Rogers, Fido, Shaw or Comwave service. The services that qualify for higher point potential are:
- Postpaid Rogers-branded consumer mobile plans (which include wireless home phone and tablet data plans). For these plans, users who have permission to make changes (i.e. a Level 1 Authorized User) are also eligible.
- Postpaid Fido consumer mobile plans. This enhanced rate is available to primary account holders and includes wireless home phone and tablet data plans.
- Any Rogers, Shaw, Comwave or Fido-branded internet, TV, home phone, home monitoring or satellite service – primary account holders only
If you have one of these services, you’ll be entitled to:
- Up to 3% cashback on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars.
- 2% cash back on all eligible non-U.S. dollar purchases.
If you don't have one of these services, you’ll receive:
- Up to 3% cashback on all eligible purchases made in U.S. dollars.

Benefits and Perks

Get 5 Roam Like Home days at no cost every year for eligible Rogers mobile plans.
If I were given the choice to choose only one benefit when travelling, without a doubt, I would pick trip cancellation insurance. When your trip is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, this coverage has the potential to save you thousands of dollars.
Given that this is such a big insurance category to include on a card, most free cards (and even many paid cards) don't have this coverage. When you own the Rogers Red World Elite® card, you get access to this benefit for free, making this contender one of the best travel credit cards in Canada.
Trip cancellation is only part of the coverage that comes with this card. Here is what else is included:
- Trip cancellation and trip interruption: $1,000 per person, $5,000 maximum
- Travel medical insurance: up to 10 days for cardholders 64 and under, and up to 3 days for ages 65 to 75
- Car rental damage and theft insurance: 31 days, with a $65,000 car MSRP limit. This coverage can let you decline the rental company's CDW/LDW coverage.
- Purchase protection: 90 days
- Extended warranty: 1 year
Drawbacks and Considerations
2 Downsides to the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard
Before you get too excited about this card’s potential, you’ll want keep a couple of important drawbacks in mind.
The Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard requires a personal income of $80K/year or a household annual income of $150K/year.
Rogers has implemented tiered rates for earning cash back, based on annual spending. These tiers apply to the Rogers Red Mastercard, Rogers Red World Mastercard, and Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard For the Rogers Red World Elite Mastercard, the annual cap sits at $61,000. If you spend more than the set threshold, your earn rate will drop to the card's base rate.
Your annual spend resets once a year, and the reset date depends on your account history: if you've always had the same card, it resets on the anniversary of when you opened the account; if you switched to a different card, it resets on the anniversary of that switch instead.

Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard vs Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard
The Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard, one of the best Tangerine credit cards in Canada, is notable for its customizable cashback, allowing cardholders to pick two earn categories out of the 13 offered by Tangerine. You can even select a third category when you deposit your rewards into a Tangerine Savings Account. While the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard has more coverage overall, the Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard includes valuable mobile device insurance. For perks, expect an airport lounge Dragon Pass membership, Mastercard On-Demand and Subscription Services, and a FelxiRoam 1GB Global Data Roaming plan. Both cards avoid annual fees, and the Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard also comes with lower annual income requirements.
Verdict: The Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard is more customizable and accessible, but the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard is still more valuable overall.
Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard vs Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite + Card
The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite + Card is one of the best grocery credit cards in Canada and best recurring transaction credit cards in Canada, earning cardholders higher cashback rates in these two categories. The card also optimizes gas, transit, and food delivery purchases at a relatively lower rate. Since this Visa contender comes with an annual fee, it has significantly more coverage, including mobile device insurance, travel accident insurance, and flight and baggage delay insurance. For perks, cardholders receive car rental discounts and Visa Infinite Exclusive Benefits. With lower annual income requirements, this option is also easier to qualify for.
Verdict: The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite + Card offers better reward rates on groceries and recurring purchases, plus better coverage overall. That said, the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard is still valuable for Rogers customers, and it avoids annual fees.
Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard vs Neo World Elite Mastercard
The Neo World Elite Mastercard, one of the best rewards credit cards in Canada, collects tons of cashback on groceries, recurring purchases, and gas. These categories (among others) can be boosted even further when you purchase from Neo Partners. The insurance on this card is also extensive, which is expected since the card comes with an annual fee. While both cards share a Dragon Pass airport lounge membership and similar annual income requirements, the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard has more added perks.
Verdict: The Neo World Elite Mastercard offers better cashback rates on specialized categories, better boosted cashback on partner purchases, and superior coverage. That said, the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard is still more valuable and affordable, particularly for Rogers customers.
Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard vs SimplyCash Preferred Card from American Express
The SimplyCash Preferred Card from American Express, one of the best gas credit cards in Canada, offers better cashback on gas and groceries. Since this Amex competitor comes with an annual fee, it provides better coverage, including hotel burglary insurance, mobile device insurance, and flight and baggage delay insurance. The SimplyCash Preferred Card is also more affordable, considering it avoids annual income requirements.
Verdict: The SimplyCash Preferred Card from American Express earns more cashback on gas and groceries, provides better coverage, and avoids annual fees. However, the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard is still the better option for high-earning yet budget-conscious Rogers customers.
Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard vs Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa Card
Another high-ranking no-fee cashback card worth mentioning is the Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa Card, one of the best dining credit cards in Canada. This contender earns more cashback on eligible restaurant, bar, and coffee shop purchases, plus decent cashback on gas, groceries, drugstore, and pre-authorized payments. The coverage is less impressive, offering only extended warranty and purchase protection insurance. Unlike the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard, the card also lacks any added perks. That said, the Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa Card has much lower annual income requirements.
Verdict: The Simplii Financial Cash Back Visa Card is much more accessible and optimal for foodies, but the Rogers Red World Elite® Mastercard is still more valuable for Rogers customers.

Yes. The card includes car rental damage and theft insurance, which can let you decline the rental company's CDW/LDW coverage. Coverage lasts up to 31 days, with a $65,000 car MSRP limit. Check the full terms and exclusions with Rogers Bank before relying on it.

The trade-offs are the income requirements ($80,000 personal or $150,000 household), the annual spend cap, and airport lounge access that is pass-only, meaning visits are discounted rather than free.
We estimate you'll need a good credit score. You'll also need a personal annual income of $80,000 or a household annual income of $150,000. Rogers Bank makes the final approval decision.
