Our take

CIBC Aventura® Visa* Card for Business

If your business flies Air Canada regularly, this card pays for itself quickly. You get 2x Aeroplan points across a broad set of categories — travel, dining, shipping, telecom — plus tangible perks like free checked bags and Maple Leaf Lounge guest passes. The welcome offer of up to 75,000 points is generous, and the first-year fee is rebated. The catch: bonus earning is capped at $80,000 in annual purchases across the entire account, and the card’s value drops sharply if you don’t redeem through Aeroplan. Not the right pick for businesses that want cashback simplicity or fly with multiple airlines.

  • First-year annual fee rebate
  • Welcome offer up to 75,000 Aeroplan points
  • Free first checked bag for the cardholder + companions
  • Up to 4 Maple Leaf Lounge one-time guest passes per year (earned via spend)
  • $180 annual fee
  • Best value is for Air Canada / Aeroplan loyalists
  • Bonus earning capped at $80,000 annual spend
  • Welcome bonus requires significant spend to maximize ($40,000 in year one)
  • Not a simple “cash back” style card for businesses that want easy redemption

Scotia Momentum® for business No Fee Visa* Card

The Scotia Momentum for business No Fee Visa Card is a solid and affordable business credit card with straightforward cash back, everyday and business-oriented benefits, plus decent coverage. If you don't need a travel or premium-tier business credit card, this is a top option.

  • No annual fee
  • Welcome bonus
  • Business-oriented benefits
  • Business Loan Protection
  • Limited rewards
  • No premium travel perks
  • Foreign transaction fees

b) Additional bonus of 10,000 Aventura Points after the first purchase is made within first 4 monthly statement periods.

c) An additional bonus of 40,000 Aventura Points if you have at least $35,000 in net purchases posted to the Credit Card Account during the first 12 monthly statement periods.

d) A one-time annual fee rebate for the Credit Card Account, including the Primary Cardholder and all Authorized Users set up at the time of the application.

Offer applies to newly approved Credit Card Accounts; transfers from another CIBC credit card to any CIBC Aventura® Visa* Card for Business (regardless of the annual fee) are excluded.

Credit Card Account must be open and in Good Standing at the time the Aventura Points are awarded. Aventura Points are awarded to the Primary Cardholder within 8 weeks after all qualifying net Purchase(s) are posted to the credit card account. The following do not qualify as Purchases: Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, CIBC Convenience Cheques, interest, fees, payments, and Aventura Points redemptions. It may take up to several business days for purchases to be posted to the Credit Card Account. This offer is non-transferable. This offer may be withdrawn or changed without prior notice at any time. CIBC may approve your application, but you are not eligible to receive this Offer if you have opened, transferred or cancelled another Aventura card within the last 12 months. This offer may be revoked if the Business or any Cardholder appear to be manipulating or abusing it, or are engaged in any suspicious or fraudulent activity, as determined by CIBC in its sole discretion.

This offer does not apply to annual fees for additional Cards that are added after the application is submitted. This offer applies for the first year only. If the Business qualifies for the rebate, it will be awarded to the Credit Card Account and will appear as a credit against the applicable annual fee(s) within 2 statements after the eligible Credit Card Account is opened. The new Credit Card Account must be open and in Good Standing at the time the rebate is awarded.

If the application for an eligible card is not approved, you may be considered for another card (as disclosed in the credit card application). If the application is approved for that card, this annual fee rebate offer will apply in the amount of the annual fee, if any, of the alternate card or Credit Card Account, as applicable.

The over $1,800 value is based on the combined total value of: the maximum redemption value of $1,600 for 70,000 Aventura Points on two long-haul airfares ($800 travel value each), based on the Aventura Airline Rewards Chart, before taxes and other charges, as of March 1, 2023; and an annual fee rebate for the first year (up to $180) for the Primary Cardholder and three additional cards ($150).

For full details, review the maximum ticket prices and Aventura Flight Rewards Chart at the CIBC Rewards Centre. Some airlines may impose fees, restrictions or other conditions on air travel.

To obtain an Airline Travel Reward using the Aventura Airline Rewards Chart, you must redeem at least 80% of the total number of Aventura Points required to purchase it. If you don’t have enough Aventura Points to purchase an Airline Travel Reward in full (but have at least 80% of the required number of Aventura Points), you may have the Centre charge an amount to your Card to cover the Points Deficit, excluding Taxes and Other Charges. For a business class flight, you may have the Centre charge an amount to your Card to cover the Points Deficit for an economy class ticket in the same flight segment as the business class ticket you want, excluding Taxes and Other Charges. If you have the Centre charge an amount to your Card to cover the Points Deficit for an Airline Travel Reward and you are advised that the Aventura Travel Reward is refundable, then, in the event of a refund, the amount previously charged to your Card will not be refunded to your Credit Card Account and instead you will receive Aventura Points equal to the Points Deficit.

Capitalized terms used and not defined herein have the meanings given to them in the CIBC Business Cardholder Agreement (Personal Liability).

All Aventura Program rewards displayed above are subject to availability.

9CIBC Rewards Program clients may “transfer,” which means move, the Aventura points earned from eligible Aventura credit card accounts, where they are the primary cardholder or Rewards Officer. Transferring Points can be done between Aventura credit cards through the CIBC Rewards Centre or by calling 1-888-232-5656. Authorized Users cannot perform points transfer transactions, but will be able to view any points transfer activity on the Primary’s account in their account history. Points entered must be positive and within the minimum of 1 and the maximum of total points available in the account, at the time of performing points transfers. The Credit Card Accounts that you wish to transfer points between must be in good standing.

10Aventura Points can be redeemed for up to 100% of the cost of airfare as well as (if you have sufficient points) for taxes and other charges on airfare purchased through the CIBC Rewards Centre. You must book all flights through the CIBC Rewards Centre. Some taxes and other charges may be collected locally or when you are travelling, and cannot be prepaid. Ask an Aventura Travel Assistant for details.

11Insurance coverage(s) included with CIBC credit cards are underwritten by Belair Insurance Company Inc. You may contact the insurer at 1-866-363-3338 in Canada and the U.S. or collect from elsewhere at 905-403-3338 or visit cibc.client.insure. Different cards will have different coverage(s). To learn about which coverage(s) are included with a specific card, and important information regarding coverage eligibility requirements, benefits, limitations and exclusions, review the Certificate(s) of Insurance in your card package and CIBC Agreements and Insurance. Some insurance coverage(s) require purchase(s), car rentals, common carrier fares, accommodations and other trip costs to be charged to the card, or be for business purposes, to activate coverage. Other conditions may also apply. Car Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance (CLDI) is available for a rental period of up to 48 days for rental vehicles with a MSRP of up to $85,000 CAD and not otherwise excluded from coverage. The full cost of the rental must be charged to the card and the rental agency’s Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) must be declined. CLDI provides coverage up to the actual cash value (ACV) of the rental vehicle as defined in your Certificate of Insurance. Note that some rental agencies may assess their damages at an amount greater than the ACV of the rental vehicle and you may be liable to them for the difference. Before declining the rental agency's CDW or LDW, you should read carefully and compare the terms of the rental agreement, the CLDI Certificate of Insurance in your card package and any other insurance you own to decide which coverage best meets your protection needs. Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption Insurance may not cover certain health/medical conditions that are not stable before your trip. Certain coverages are “excess insurance” (all other sources of insurance and recovery must be exhausted before coverage is available).

12CIBC Travel Insurance is underwritten by member companies of The Co-operators, and is administered by TIC Travel Insurance Coordinators Ltd. No insurance is payable for any pre-existing condition unless you have applied and qualified for pre-existing condition coverage and received a Guarantee of Coverage from the insurer. Scotia Momentum® for business No Fee Visa* Card

1Offer Description and Conditions: The 10% Cash Back Offer (the “Offer”) applies only to new Scotia Momentum® for business No Fee Visa* Card accounts (“Accounts”) that are opened, and any additional cards on the Account issued, between August 17, 2026 and February 28, 2027 (regardless of the date you apply for the Account) subject to the conditions below.

You will earn 10% cash back on the first $1,500 in eligible purchases you spend on your new Account within the first 3 months of the Account open date (the “Promotional Period”). Eligible purchases include purchases (less any refunds, returns or other similar credits) but do not include cash advances (including balance transfers and cash-like transactions), interest, fees or other charges or payments.

After the Promotional Period, you will earn regular cash back on eligible purchases at the regular cash back rate (the “Regular Cash Back Program Rate”) as described in the Scotia Momentum No fee Visa* Cash Back Program Terms and Conditions (the “Program Terms”). The 10% cash back rate for any category is made up of the sum of: (i) the Regular Cash Back Program Rate (variable by category as set out under the Program Terms); and (ii) a bonus rate that will vary depending on the Cash Back Program Rate (the “Cash Back Top Up Rate”).

Cash back earned under this Offer will be credited to your Account in 2 installments so long as your Account is open and in good standing at time of payout of each:

  1. Bonus Cash Back: The amount earned under the Cash Back Top Up Rate will be credited to your Account within approximately 7 months from the Account open date; and
  2. Regular Cash Back: The amount earned under your Regular Cash Back Program Rate will be credited to your Account as described in  the Program Terms.

The Account is considered in good standing if it is not past due or over limit and the Cardholder(s) is not in breach of the Revolving Credit Agreement that applies to the Account.

EXAMPLE: If the Regular Cash Back Program Rate for gas purchases is 1% then the Cash Back Top Up Rate will be 9% for that category so that you will earn a total of 10% on the amount of all eligible everyday purchases in that category during the Promotional Period up to a total of $1,500 in purchases.

If you make $1,500 in eligible everyday purchases in your first 3 months in the 1% Cash Back category, your cash back earnings will be credited to your Account as follows:

  1. the Cash Back Top Up Rate earnings of $135 (9% x $1,500) will be applied to your Account within approximately 7 months from the Account open date if you have met the Cash Back Bonus conditions, and
  2. the regular Cash Back Program Rate earnings of $15 (1% x $1,500), will be applied to your Account in accordance with the Program Terms.

All other terms and conditions of the Program Terms continue to apply during and after the Promotional Period. Offer may be changed, cancelled or extended at any time without notice and cannot be combined with any other offers.

Offer Eligibility and Exclusions: Individuals who are currently or were previously primary or secondary cardholders of a Scotiabank business credit card in the past 2 years, including those that switch from an existing Scotiabank business credit card, are not eligible for the Offer. Subject to the above exclusions, Scotiabank personal credit cardholders are also eligible for the Offer. By accepting this Offer you confirm you meet all Offer eligibility requirements. We reserve the right to revoke this Offer at any time if we determine you do not meet the Offer eligibility requirements, including after you have accepted the Offer or been approved for the Account.

Rates and Fees: There is no annual fee on this card (including those issued to co-borrowers and supplementary cardholders). The current preferred annual interest rates for the Account are: 21.99% on purchases and 23.99% on Cash Advances.

41% CASH BACK EARN RATE: You will earn 1% Cash Back on your Business Purchases made on your Scotia Momentum® for business No Fee Visa* Card Account.

Only Purchases earn Cash Back.  Cash Advances including balance transfers and cash-like transactions fees, interest, returns, refunds or other similar credits do not qualify for Cash Back.

ANNUAL SPEND LIMITS: There are no annual limits on the Cash Back you can earn as outlined in these Cash Back Program Terms.  See full terms and conditions of the “Cash Back Program Terms and Conditions” at Scotiabank.com/terms/momentum-no-fee-business.

7 Cardholders with a Scene+ membership who link their  Scotia Momentum® for business No Fee Visa* Card and their Scene+ account to a Shell Go+ Account can get up to 6 cents per litre in instant fuel discounts, Cash Back, and Scene+ Points Value when they purchase eligible fuel with their linked credit card:

  • Instant 3 cents per Litre Discount on Fuel Purchases (All Grades): Receive an instant 3 cents per litre discount on purchases of fuel (all grades) (“Fuel Purchases (All Grades)”) at participating Shell locations in Canada when you use any eligible Scotiabank debit card or credit card linked to a Shell Go+ Account, up to a maximum of 1,000 litres per month per Scotiabank debit card and per Scotiabank credit card account. This total limit resets at the start of each new month per payment card account. This discount is subject to the Scotiabank Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions.
  • Earn 1 cent per Litre in Cash Back: When you use your Scotia Momentum for business Visa card on Fuel Purchases (All Grades) you will earn 1% Cash Back on eligible Net Purchases at Gas Stations (Merchant Category Codes (“MCC”: 5541, 5542). Assumes an average fuel price of at least $1.00/L. “Net Purchases” means eligible new purchases charged and posted on the Account during a statement period less, returns (including credit vouchers), refunds or other credits. Balance Transfers, Cash Advances, Cash-Like Transactions, interest charges, fees, and insurance premiums posted to your Credit Card Account are not eligible to earn Cash Back. This benefit is subject to the Scotia Momentum for business No Fee Visa Card Cash Back Program Terms and Conditions.
  • Scene+ Members earn up to 2 cents per Litre in Scene+ Points Value: Scene+ Members earn 1 Scene+ point for each litre in Fuel Purchases (All Grades) when they present or make available their Scene+ account number or Scene+ membership card at the time of purchase. Plus, Scene+ Members who link their Scene+ account to the Shell Go+ app will automatically earn 1 Scene+ point for each litre of V-Power®* gasoline or V-Power®* diesel purchased (“Premium Fuel Purchases”). Scene+ Points Value is based on an average redemption value of $10 for every 1000 Scene+ points redeemed on fuel purchases. Actual value may be lower depending on how you choose to redeem your Scene+ points. Earn and redemption limits may apply. See the Scene+ Program Terms and Conditions available at sceneplus.ca/terms-and-conditions for full details including redemption options and additional terms.

Note: Highest value of 6 cents per litre assumes a Premium Fuel Purchase (minimum price of $1.00 per litre) made with your Scotia Momentum for business No Fee Visa card linked to a Shell Go+ Account and with your Scene+ account also linked to the Shell Go+ account. Actual value will vary depending on whether or not the credit card is linked, fuel grade purchased, cost of fuel at time of purchase, whether or not you are a Scene+ member, and how you choose to redeem your Scene+ points.
