Is this card worth it?

If you're seeking a cashback credit card, the BMO CashBack® World Elite® Mastercard® stands out for its excellent balance between rewards and benefits. It offers a robust rewards program and a comprehensive benefits list, making it a solid choice. The high first-year value is enhanced by the annual fee waiver, and those with a BMO Premium Chequing Account can enjoy continued fee waivers. While it's highly ranked for rewards alone, it may not be the absolute top choice if benefits are less important to you.

Is this card worth it?

The BMO Eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card is ideal for those who want to maximize rewards on essential categories like travel, dining, groceries, and gas, while enjoying premium benefits. With a generous welcome bonus, lifestyle credit, and comprehensive insurance, this card is designed for frequent travelers who are willing to pay for luxury perks like lounge access and exclusive Visa Infinite privileges. The 25% rewards boost for authorized users adds further value for families or couples who want to rack up points faster.

Pros

  • Offers one of the highest cashbacks on groceries and gas, two of the most frequently spent categories, compared to other credit cards in Canada.
  • Includes roadside assistance, a rare but valuable benefit for people on the road.
  • Provides a comprehensive list of insurance coverage and benefits.
  • High first-year value.

Pros

  • Generous rewards: Earn 5x points on travel, dining, groceries, gas, and drugstore purchases.
  • $200 lifestyle credit: Annual credit that can be used on any purchase over $200.
  • 25% bonus points with authorized user: Adding an authorized user increases your rewards by 25%.
  • Comprehensive insurance: Includes 12 types of coverage, including emergency medical and trip interruption insurance.
  • 6 lounge visits: Complimentary Priority Pass membership with 6 free airport lounge visits annually.

Cons

  • Does not include restaurant purchases as a reward category, which is one of the most important spending categories.
  • Monthly limits on cash back could be higher

Cons

  • High annual fee: The card has a steep $599 annual fee, which is not waived in the first year.
  • High income requirements: Requires $150,000 personal or $200,000 household income, limiting eligibility.
  • Low point value: Points are valued at only 0.67 cents, reducing their overall worth.
