In our rewards calculation, we're using a 1.5% cashback rate in the "other" spend category to account for the 2% cashback rate on Digital Wallet payments in order to provide a more fair estimate. This is because according to the Bank of Canada's 2023 Merchant Acceptance Survey, 67% of small and medium-sized businesses accept digital cards and payments, while virtually all major Canadian retailers and chains accept digital wallet payments. We're making the assumption that essentially 75% of your non-grocery spending will be via Digital Wallet payments. For the welcome bonus calculation, we're making the assumption that 50% of your initial spending will be on groceries while the other 50% will be on other purchases, totaling up to the $1,000 spending cap.
